Privacy Policy
Last updated: May 14, 2026
Ripple is built on a simple idea: you were going to share that link anyway. Our job is to quietly turn it into a small reward — not to collect more of your data than we need. This policy explains exactly what we collect, why, and what we will never do.
Who we are
Ripple ("Ripple," "we," "us") operates the website sharewithripple.com, the Ripple browser extension for Chrome and Safari, and the Ripple iOS app and Share Extension. If you have questions about this policy, contact us at privacy@sharewithripple.com.
What we collect
We collect only what's needed to make Ripple work:
- Your email address — if you join the waitlist or create a Ripple account. Waitlist signups are processed by Formspree on our behalf.
- Product page URLs — when you copy a link or use the share button on a supported retailer's product page, the extension reads that page's URL so it can generate your Ripple link. We do not read, log, or store the contents of pages you visit, your browsing history, or activity on non-retailer sites.
- Links you create — the Ripple links you generate, the product URLs they point to, and basic click counts, so we can attribute commissions back to you.
- Earnings and payout information — commissions attributed to your account and, when you choose to cash out, the payout details required to pay you. Payouts are handled by our payments processor; Ripple does not store full bank or card numbers.
- Basic technical data — standard, non-identifying logs (such as error reports and aggregate usage) needed to keep the service running and secure.
The extension does not track your browsing. It only activates on the product pages of supported retailers, and only to read the URL needed to build your link. It does not run on, read, or report on any other site you visit.
How we use it
- To generate your Ripple links and route people who click them to the correct retailer.
- To attribute affiliate commissions to the right person — you.
- To show you your shared links, click counts, and earnings.
- To pay you when you cash out.
- To send you account and product updates you've asked for.
- To keep Ripple secure and detect abuse or fraud.
Affiliate networks
Ripple works by connecting to established affiliate networks, which maintain the relationships with retailers on the back end. When someone clicks your Ripple link, they are routed through one of these networks to the retailer. Those networks may set their own cookies as part of standard affiliate tracking. We share with them only what's needed to attribute a sale — never your email, browsing history, or personal profile.
Disclosure to people who click your links
Every Ripple link passes through a short, clearly labeled page that tells the person clicking it that the sharer may earn a small commission, at no extra cost to them. This transparency is built in and is not optional — it's required by the U.S. Federal Trade Commission, and we think it's just the right way to do word-of-mouth.
What we never do
- We never sell your personal information.
- We never share your data with advertisers for ad targeting.
- We never track your general browsing history.
- We never read the contents of the pages you visit.
Data sharing
We share data only with service providers who help us run Ripple — for example, our hosting provider, our email/waitlist processor (Formspree), affiliate networks, and our payments processor — and only to the extent they need it to perform their function. We may also disclose information if required by law.
Data retention
We keep your information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the service, attribute commissions, and meet legal and tax obligations. You can ask us to delete your account and associated personal data at any time.
Your choices
- You can unsubscribe from emails at any time using the link in any email.
- You can request a copy of your data, or its deletion, by emailing us.
- You can uninstall the extension or app at any time, which stops all collection.
Children
Ripple is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as Ripple evolves. When we make material changes, we'll update the date at the top of this page and, where appropriate, notify you directly.
